#HUMAN was founded by Nikki, a Recovery Coach Practitioner and parent of two children with additional needs. Her personal journey gave her first-hand experience of the challenges families face navigating the disability and mental health sectors. Driven by compassion and a strong belief in inclusion, Nikki set out to create a service that feels personal, consistent, and genuinely human.

Before starting #HUMAN, Nikki worked closely with a range of community organisations and charities, supporting families and advocating for young people. Through this work, she promoted acceptance, inclusion, and equal opportunities, always striving to give people a voice and safe spaces where they feel valued and supported.

From these experiences, Nikki saw a recurring gap in the system: too often, support workers were “filling shifts” rather than being the right match for participants. This mismatch created stress, inconsistency, and additional challenges for families who already had so much to manage. #HUMAN was created to change that to prioritise personalised matching, stability, and a holistic approach where every participant feels understood, heard, and respected.
